Why I Like a Realistic Christmas Tree in My Home

Have you ever noticed that owners of realistic looking Christmas trees tend to be just that little less stressed over the festive season? Maybe it occurred to you that they weren't quite so stressed because they didn't have to go hunting for a real tree and drive all over town in quite probably bad weather to get it, bring it home and then set it all up?

This article takes a look at why I personally believe that a real tree, while great to have don't get me wrong, is more hassle than its worth these days, especially now that the artificial alternatives look so, well, realistic!

Personal Preference

Okay, I'll be honest with you, I prefer an artificial tree to a real one at Christmas. It's no big deal, but there are just some convenience factors that win them over for me. So I'm going to tell you about all the benefits of artificial Christmas trees, why I like them and why I prefer them over the real thing.

I bought a new artificial tree last Christmas and it was beautiful. It stands 6.5 feet and that is the perfect height for my living room. Not too big and not too small. Just right. Its one of those realistic trees that really does look like a Douglas fir and it is pre-lit, so all the lights are already there meaning I don't have to mess around putting up tree lights which, let's face it are a royal pain to do, especially if the wires get all tangled up, like they're prone to do.

Less Interest to Cats

It stood proud in my room amongst the other decorations and set things off perfectly. The cat wasn't interested in trying to climb it and neither did it feel the need to pee all over the base. Like it did the year before and the year before that with the real trees I kept buying. When the holidays were over, I packed it away in the box it came in all neat and tidy and stored it away in the attic. Took all of 10 minutes to do that.

Real trees need to be bought from a seller across town, transported home and then at the end of their short life, disposed of by transporting them to the dump. Whole. With needles dropping in the car. Which took over an hour to vacuum out. Every year. Not anymore!

So this year, my artificial tree will come out and take about 10 minutes to put up and it will look as great as it did last year. No going to buy another one and no visit to the dump a few weeks later. No more costs. No more hassle.

I totally love artificial, realistic looking Christmas trees and will probably never get another real one ever again. Which my cat may hate... but who cares what she thinks?
